James H Posted Wednesday at 12:18 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 12:18 (edited) Hi all, when I first got the car I lost days if not weeks of my life trying to resolve this issue and after having suspected and tested everything but the coil, it turned out to be the culprit. It was the correct coil, just faulty. Being mounted as standard on the block is presumably ok under normal conditions but I wonder if any overheating issues would easily damage it ?? I'm no expert but being oil filled its function if faulty or damaged seems to be compromised by heat, anyway thought this might spare someone the agony it caused me. It was easy to suspect the electronic ignition but alas... 👍 Edited Wednesday at 12:41 by James H clarification
johny Posted Wednesday at 14:16 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 14:16 Connected the right way round as well James? Its important for correct working of the coil but they can fail anyway especially it seems modern replacements☹️ Mines the original 1967 job and isnt a nice blue or gold colour but I wont be changing it if I can help it... Yes all was connected correctly. When I bought the car it was sold as "running poorly" and the seller was honest enough to say it had had major overheating issues prior and at the time of sale it had the aforementioned misfire when up to temp. As a bonus I later discovered air in the fuel supply, the cooling fan was on backwards, almost no oil in the gearbox and the rear body to chassis mounting bolts were wiggle loose, thats just off the top of my head, been awhile now Edited Wednesday at 14:36 by James H edit
