Carba1984 Posted October 17 Report Posted October 17 Hello everyone, I will try to explain myself with the translator as always, I am thinking of renewing the seats and I really like the original houndstooth covers, I have heard that the ones they sell now have nothing similar to the original factory ones, is that correct? They would be the coarse-grained ones since they are the ones that sell.
Carba1984 Posted October 17 Author Report Posted October 17 Pic of my current seat configuration, I want to change the bottom one, I have the possibility of buying the original factory ones but only the bottom ones, I think it would be ugly to have the backrest worn out and the new lower part, what do you think?
Eric Smith Posted October 17 Report Posted October 17 Hi - I hope that one or two of the guys here can offer you some practical advice, knowing you are in Spain the options could be limited, but you do need good advice or help. To my perspective your options have to be based upon what you want to do with your car in the coming years - if you are not worried about keeping the car factory fresh - you can still keep it nice by replacing the seats with pre used seats or by recovering the seats, either way you are able to chose to have whatever colour or style seats coverings you can get or want - if on the other hand you want the cars original specification then you have to face the fact that you need to invest some serious money getting the seats recovered as close to the original style as you can and that could be costly because you could end up renewing the door cards as well? E
Carba1984 Posted October 17 Author Report Posted October 17 I have two options, try to recover the original backups and buy the two original onl bases or put some new replicas. The problem is that I don't know what quality the replicas they sell in Rimmer, Moss...
Graham C Posted October 17 Report Posted October 17 Park lane classic may be able to help, do not show houndstooth cloth but Owen has a good knowledge on our cars. May be he can point you in a direction. Tel 01827 284957. Good luck Graham
dougbgt6 Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 I got my replacement foams and covers from Park Lane Classics, the cheapest and the best! Park Lane Classics | Triumph Spitfire GT6 interior Doug
DanMi Posted October 18 Report Posted October 18 Rimmer ones will be Newton Commercial, who also supply most of the resellers, so they will likely be good quality, just try Canleys, James Paddock etc for the best price as they will all be the same. You could go to newtoncomm.co.uk and request a sample of material https://newtoncomm.co.uk/pages/triumph-swatches

DanMi Posted October 19 Report Posted October 19 (edited) Yes Owen makes them himself but I have not heard of him doing the late cloth seats only vinyl/leather, though always worth asking. He certainly doesn't supply much for my car, well he did supply the hardboards for the door cards but I was the trial fit Edited October 19 by DanMi
dougbgt6 Posted October 19 Report Posted October 19 Yes he doesn't do the cloth seats, but I think he used to do the Spitfire houndstooth, but not on the site at the moment. Once upon a time he only did black leather, my interior is chestnut and I asked if he could do brown. He said he would if I provided the hide. Which didn't happen! Later he started coloured vinyl and I got some of those. Doug 2
