68vitesse Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 Away in UK at the moment, if I use hotel WiFi banned from forum but fine if I connect by mobile data so not really a problem, just curious. Regards Paul
johny Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 Suppose hotel access not seen as secure for some reason?
KevinR Posted November 13 Report Posted November 13 The IP address that the hotel you are staying in will be on the banned list as it will have a history of Forum spamming, 1
PeteH Posted November 18 Report Posted November 18 I often see that when away in the Motorhome, and try to log on via site Wi-Fi. I have dedicated Mobile connection anyway with a Vitrually unlimited data Dual Sim Router, we stream T-V through, as well as up to 10 other devices. The vast majority of such W-iFi conections are "unsecure" anyway, so good anti-virus is esential. I`m still using Webroot which, so far,🤞 has been 100% at flagging up dodgy sites and hacking attempts. Recomended by youngest son, part of who`s job it is to keep sections of national security secure. Pete
Colin Lindsay Posted November 18 Report Posted November 18 I took out a subscription to Nord VPN a year or so ago, as I was trying to watch Youtube videos or go to other streaming sites and was getting 'that content is unavailable in your area' message 90% of the time - they don't seem to like BT or else it has too many restrictions. Nord seems to work ok but I've found that if I forget to turn it off when I revert back to 'normal' surfing, I get blocked from a lot of my usual sites or else the content comes up blank with the message 'your IP address has been linked to spamming'. I just have to balance it out between using it, or not.
