No point going to wide or low profile tyres as our suspension isnt designed for them and the extra weight just puts more load on the suspension components. I think 13inch 5J rims are a good choice with 155 tyres (Triumph recommended size) or maybe a bit wider but as the width increases you have to take into account the tyre profile (affects speedo accuracy) and wheel offset (avoid tyre rubbing)...

dont forget going wider increases the steering loads when parking up and you wont increase the tyre footprint

area on the tarmac unless you change the pressures or the load 

i would agree 155/80 is the  spec to stick to 

question...what wheels /size are fitted    std or something different ???
