Morning all. I've trawled 'tinternet, still trying to find the correct black wool weave furflex door aperture trim for my Vit convertible. It should have a rubber lip approx 10mm on the reverse. Rimmers sell a carpet, not wool weave edged furflex, but it's got a bubble section rubber, which is wrong and too fat - leading to the slamming door problem. COH Baines sell a lipped trim that is fairly close, but it's not cloth covered, it's a plastic looking rubber?, which looks too modern and naff to my mind. Paddocks don't list anything for CV, but the pic of the saloon trim is too poor to tell if it's bubble section or lipped! I don't want to try slitting a bubble section trim, to create a lip, as it will prob end up like a dogs dinner, and they are too costly to mess up. Surely, someone must sell either the correct thing or very close version? Any leads people,

Gav

I don't think anyone does sadly, I spoke to Woolies and they apparently used to sell a lip seal with the correct period looking woven fabric covering (he even remembered the product code) but now just do that bubble seal that you have already seen.

Sadly, I think the only option for the original look is NOS Stanpart seals, or if you have a convertible, you may be able to cut down some good used saloon seals.

These guys do cotton-covered seals but only in bubble form; might be worth contacting them, though.

Another new one I've just found, for flap seals but again NOT fabric coated:

Martrim do a nice woven seal in a range of colours but I don't think it's a flap-type. I'll keep looking.

I searched and searched for original type Door seals in Shadow Blue and never found any, the only option I was given was trying to cover some of the correct 'J' Section seals sold by Bill from Rarebits for classics with material supplied by Woolies, I didn't bother in the end and just fitted the standard ones available from Bill.

The other option is looking for N.O.S types, you may get lucky with black as it was the most numerous.

Gents, thank you for your comments and any suggestions,so far.

Firefly, thanks for the link, but as you can probably see that trim has a modern rubber finish, which is too modern looking, I think and  I'd already discounted it. I struggle to understand why you can get some quite unusual trims for Triumph, but not correct door aperture trims. Of course if was for MGB or a Jag, you'd be falling over them! Grrr...😠
