Sue Franklin
Evans & Cutler in North Street Totnes Devon. In the 1960s my late father sourced 2 x 2000s (Mk 1 and Mk2) then early Stag from them. My 21st pressie was a 6 year old Herald saloon from them. Also had outlet in Valley Road Plympton in the 1970s. Purchased 1500 Spitfire in Java in 1975. BL Friday car - from new faulty voltage stabilizer, nearside door lock and first time I locked the boot the barrel came out with the key. UJs went at 1000 miles and in all 3 times under warranty. After a year my husband did all UJs and I drove it for 100,000 miles without a hitch. GTK 949 N. Also had bodyshop at Harbertonford and a facility at Ivybridge.

Qu1ckn1ck
The Baldock Museum and Local History Society has a museum display at the moment featuring the early motor trade in Baldock. Quenby Bros were Standard and then Triumph dealers from premises in Baldock and their early adverts were featured. Quenby Bros still trade from the same premises in Baldock and have a strong interest in classic cars.

Gully Sanders Motor Garage is now occupied by Kwik Fit in Walsworth Road, the upper story is still clearly recognisable. The photo was taken in the early 1920's. Hitchin Through Time covers the station and further down Walsworth Road, but misses that section. Gully
steveweblin
The 38th article I have written is about Botwoods Ltd a Triumph car dealer based in the east of England. Botwoods was a part of the Mann Egerton group. Until 1910 the motor car manufacturers Botwood & Egerton ran alongside the carriage-making firm until Egerton left to set up his own business in Northgate (Street) next to the Great White Horse Hotel. The Botwood company became Botwoods Ltd and in the 1920s the Botwood shares were acquired by Mann, Egerton & Co of Norwich. You can read more on my blog at: http://vitessesteve.blogspot.co.uk/2017/07/botwoods-of-bury-st-edmunds-ipswich-and.html Plea for information If you have any more information or recollections about this garage, photos of window stickers, dealer badges or sill plates etc please let me know. Paul H
Hi you might want to contact Cracknells Garage in Thurston close to Bury St Edmunds - My parents purchased a new green Triumph Herald 1200 saloon in the early to mid 60's . I recently had my 1969 Vitesse Mk2 MOT'd there and they showed great interest and Mr Cracknell senior checked my car over - We struck up a conversation and I explained my parents purchase and they did sell a lot of Triumphs in the day & still have some of the original literature about - might be worth making contact Paul
