Taffius
Hi all, Anyone with experience in getting the switch front off a Spitfire 1500 windscreen wiper switch? I bought a new one to replace a worn one (plus I need the switch off now as found a broken wire for my washer motor)!
Taffius
I thought it might be held by a grub screw, however tried screwdriver, allen key, etc to no avail.
Casper
Unsure as to Spitfire 1500, but most switched are held by a sprung 'pip' on the shank of the switch If it's like this then that is the case:http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/triumph-spitfire-switch The pip is accessed on the knob shank on the underside. Use a very small screwdriver or similar (I use an old bike spoke) to push this in while simultaneously pulling the knob. They can be quire resistant to the pull. Edit You can see the arrangement here : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252086029235 See also: http://www.mgexp.com/phorum/read.php?1,1610469 particularly: http://www.mgexp.com/phile/1/339859/Img_5881.jpg C
John Bonnett
I'm not sure where the problem is. The knob can be removed by pressing in the spring clip on the underside to release it from the shank. This can be done with the end of a scriber or a small screwdriver. Remove the knob, The nut then can be unscrewed and the switch removed. I hope I haven'y misunderstood you and that this helps.
