Pete Lewis
the electrode zone is clear so mxture is about right an oily residue on the treads is not uncommon , wouldnt worry about it. Pete
JohnD
Mk1 or 2? Mk1s swaged in tubes for the push rods seep oil onto the plug threads. Normal, unless excessive. Mk2s can seep through the rocker cover seal. John

Guest
Paul. That plug is spot-on and nothing to worry about. More often than not you will see some minor traces of oil around the thread when you remove them after a period of time, that goes for many classics. To be honest it's always worth wiping the thread clean and then putting a TINY smear of oil around the thread to assist turning the plug in and out of the head; even more so on alloy heads. Keep the plugs correctly gapped and the porcelain clean and you will not have any problems. Out of interest, what NGK plugs are using ?? Good luck. Richard. Guest
Paul. I run with the NGK BP6ES and never had a problem with them in the Vitesse. Pete is spot on with the "R" type and I never use Champion plugs. All the best. Richard.
