NeilF
Checking over my GT6 Mk1 I have again noticed that on the Distributor cap the centre contact pole with the rotor arm has almost burnt away. I am using a simple pointless ignition. The centre pole is fixed and is not spring loaded like some distributor caps. Could I have something wired incorrectly. The car has been running perfectly. I replaced a distributor cap last year because of the same problem. Any ideas? NeilF
Pete Lewis
You can have a gap between the sprung rotor sweeper and the cap bush, this allows the spark to errode the bush as its jumping the gap, raise the rotor arm sprung sweeper to be a bit higher should solve it live in hope Pete
NeilF
Thanks Pete, I have given the rotor arm a tweek, but will try and measure what sort of contact or non contact it is making. NeilF
