Mjit
For MS I think you'd be looking at this for a kit - http://trigger-wheels.com/store/contents/en-uk/p270.html It's not Triumph 6-specific but has all the bits you need for any 6 cylinder engine and you just need to find a way to mount the trigger wheel on the crank pulley/the crank sensor so it's about 1mm from the trigger teeth. All of MegaJolt/MegaSquirt/MicroSquirt are open source, map-able ECUs that are available from a number of sources. MJ ECU just does sparks, using common Ford EDIS ignition bits. The two MS ECUs do sparks, again using Ford EDIS ignition but but can also control fuel injectors.
Colin Lindsay
On 9/24/2017 at 7:47 PM, Pete Lewis said: any clues why they failed Pete No idea Pete, both were on a 1500 Spitfire quite a few years ago (having said that, so was a Sparkrite 2000 - remember those???) and both failed within a year of being fitted, usually in the first show season of use so less than a year of use. I also remember a coil going red hot and almost exploding, it was an Aldon flamethrower, so off to the bin it went too. The GT6 has run very well on the SimonBBC units for a few years now. Darren Groves
8 hours ago, Peter Charlton said: Do you have a link of the product please?, all I can find are ECUs That's what they are, just like Megajolt. All I mean is that if you are considering Megajolt I'd be inclined to spend a bit more and go Microsquirt, both deal with ignition in a similar way, i.e. Trigger Wheel & VR Sensor on the crank, Coil Pack and EDIS unit if you go the Ford hardware route. Having had both I would say that the Microsquirt is better, and the support for both (which comes from the community of users) is more active, plus if you ever want to add EFI the the Microsquirt will do that to. Either of these options are significantly more work that fitting electronic ignition, so do your research to make sure it's what you want to do. If you want to read about my Megajolt Install, then look here: https://triumphherald1360.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Megajolt - Microsquirt then here: https://triumphherald1360.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Microsquirt You can get all you need from here: http://trigger-wheels.com/store/ or here: http://extraefi.co.uk/ Darren
Peter Charlton
Thanks Darren, The Mega squirt is a bit expensive without considering the fitting of fuel injection. So will probably be the Megajolt.
hugh
Used nodiz with very good results, in fact dumped the manky jolt for it which caused nothing but grief, also the ford edis is now getting expensive and not easy to get genuine, and the pattern ones are crap
Clive
Ah, but does nodiz work with a six cylinder? Just a thought, but I have their EFi ecu, and that only caters for a 4 cylinder.....(I think, not seen anything about number of cylinders) Not had any issues with my 2 mj installs, but they are not recent (the spit was done about 6 years ago, but only recently came into our ownership)
hugh
There's always the 123 distributor replacement, especially if your distributor is about knackered (most are)

hugh
By the way nodiz will do 4,6,8 cyl engines, with a single coil or coil packs , mapping through the Bluetooth interface is easy
