Adrian
Morning Chaps Still cleaning that vile gunk of underseal off the car. It appears the front of the car has had repairs on both L/R front chassis rails (just checking for clarity that this is the correct description, not outriggers as they are behind the front wheels attaching the body tub). The repairs aren't significantly corroded but they are only half the gauge of the original chassis 1.1mm rather than 2.2mm. They seem solid - nothing wobbles. Whilst I don't intend to crash I cant see a difference of 1mm affecting impact damage. Replace or ignore - advice please? Thanks Adrian
Colin Lindsay
Ignore... these are only the ends of the front cross-rail, they're not seriously structural and really only hold the valences on. The main rails and body-supporting outriggers are the important bits. In the event of an impact these would probably crumple anyway.
