Adrian
Hello all At last the engine bay is stripped to metal and I'm prepping for painting. I know most brackets are black and SS is also available but I'm going to re-use the existing. Its an easy one as I'm just asking opinion - I'm thinking body colour? Also, prior to painting the battery box is it worth giving it a soak in Bicarb to neutralise any historic acid? Cheers Adrian
Badwolf
I just gave mine a good wash down with plenty of engine cleaner followed by soap and water. Then a coat of old (the good stuff) hammerite which I had in the garage. If I do it again I will use POR15 chassis paint.

Bordfunker
I'm going with satin black on mine as I reckon it will look smart against the Dolphin Grey of the rest of the car. Also the black looks good against the alloy of the cylinders themselves. Karl
Adrian
Taking into account the contrasting approach. I’ve got the polished Ali trays that the bracket sits on. Sufficient contrast to continue on body colour (white) or still the black? I’ve actually got plenty of the high solids por15 engine enamel so could use that if black is favourable ive also got the carb cleaner aerosol and intend to clean the outside with wire brush/wool....sensible? Pete Lewis
Soft wire or pan scourer , hard wire you can score the ally. They clean and polish up quite easy even a spray of silver can last better than you expect Pete
