Anglefire
I've just had my car tax reminder come through - and it says I need to tax it - which is fine. But it is 40years old - as of last August - but everything I can currently find is still talking about Jan 1st 1977 as the cut off date. Has the change in MOT status pushed the date back for this year, to I guess March or May or whenever that comes in? The £80 odd for the 6months doesn't bother me per-se but its the principle! AidanT
From the HMRC web site Historic vehicles Vehicles made before 1 January 1977 are exempt from 1 April 2017. I always have wondered if you have to register your car as historic as well as I had to when I first got my car on the V5 from PLG to historic Aidan
Anglefire
Yes you have to register - https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/603905/inf34-taxing-historic-vehicles.pdf Wonder if they update it after the budget and a refund is given? If I'd known, I would have bought 12months tax last time rather than 6 as I was expecting it to be exempt now. Might have a chat with the post office tomorrow. AidanT
I guess you have fallen between the dates then! I think you can pay monthly so that would possibly be a solution Aidan
