Back about 1978, the newly formed TSSC arranged a members trip to Canley. The original  factory built specially for the Herald in the late fifties -aka the Rocket Range - was being used to produce Spitfires and the Dolomite range ,which came down the production line sideways,  alternately.

The trimmed bodies started at the  top of the  building and  found their way down, being driven off .

Afterwards, tea at Ivy Cottage, a long standing Canley landmark.

I think Michael Edwardes had recently arrived at Bl ,and there was a separate car park for visitors who had arrived in a foreign car -difficult to enforce this now with so many "foreign" car makers with UK factories - let alone the Equality Act!
