Sudden jolt triumph 2500 tc

I was driving along at a steady  50 to 60 mph when after about 20 miles the car gave a sudden jolt and lost all power for a fraction of a second, then carried on as normal. Then did it again about 3 miles later. I stopped, checked plug leads ect found nothing amiss. Then drove anther 25 miles without any trouble. Anyone got any ideas what has caused this?

Check the rotor sweep plate contacts the cap carbon brush,   a gap here gives odd jolts,  look for burn marks or erroded carbon

Hi Pete

When I checked rotor the end was a bit black, will clean and change if it happens again

If its   Delco   Do make sure the sprung blade contacts the bush in the cap    theres some dimensions on here but I cant find the post

where others have had this problem

It's a lucas.  Cleaned and checked rotor arm, no problems found. Just got back from a short break away covering over 400 miles , car didn't miss a beat!!
