SpitfireGeorge Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 Hi Guys, I am in the process of removing the rear spring on my 1967 Spitfire Mk3 as part of a general body off overhaul. All the suspension has been removed together with the 6 nuts holding it to the diff. The problem is I still cannot remove the spring plate. There is something going through the middle of the plate to the diff but when you read the workshop manual it does not mention it. Is it just rusted on and needs forcing off or is it something else? Cheers, Brett
PeterH Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 The bolt through the middle of the plate is only holding the spring together, not the plate. If you've removed the 6 nuts it should come off (with persuasion).
SpitfireGeorge Posted April 18, 2018 Author Report Posted April 18, 2018 Thanks Peter, I was worried about breaking something expensive if I tried some "persuasion".
Pete Lewis Posted April 18, 2018 Report Posted April 18, 2018 No that wont break it for you , its a std part of the tool kit Pete
