Paula
It’s the sort of area where a gazebo could mean a farmers market or a murder!

Paula
I've managed to loosen them all half a turn. It's so tempting to carry on and get the head off, but I'll do the re-torque. I think i can work around that dowel if that's what it's called
johny
yes I dont remember it getting in the way. Youve got the torquing procedure all clear havent you? Oh and what do the washers look like?
johny
And how tight were the head fixings?
Paula
I've got my Haynes so i'm good with the order. They weren't very tight. I could easily undo them with a normal ratchet.

Pete Lewis
that washer looks OK , another clue that its been under torqued , its common the nut digs in and deforms the washer surface work around the dowel , you may need to remover rocker cover stud to get a socket on the head nuts near them so retorque or carry on and lift the head ??? Paula
I’ve re torqued now. might as well re assemble. i might still have time to do the head if it fails later today. Weather permitting

johny
Bear in mind if the head comes off that leads to decoking, valve seat grinding, hardened valve seats, machining head face to increase comp ratio, gas flowing and pounds more😆
