Anglefire
Thought I'd drop a couple of the spark plugs out this evening - SWMBO has gone out and I'd finished work. I think they look generally ok - though the one has a bit of oil on it (No2)
ShaunW
I haven't got any constructive comments, but aren't cameras brilliant these days. Ease, convenience and amazing quality.
Anglefire
To be fair, this was my proper camera with a macro lens on the front. New cost of the combination about twice my spitfire. ?
Pete Lewis
If this was after a run I would like them a bit whiter Pete
Anglefire
So still a bit rich then Pete?

Gully
My plugs usually look a little lighter than your first picture after general bimbling around - a bit paler again after a long run. But with an added pinky hue from the fuel additive! Gully Edited June 19, 2018 by Gully Spellings!
Anglefire
The last bit of the drive was fairly gentle as it’s a 20limit to the house from the main road (which is 30 anyway) i will knock it back a half turn and see how it goes. Thanks Pete ?
daverclasper
My plugs are sooty with a bit of brown when driving in slow traffic around Bristol. Pale grey at cruising speed. Not sure if the oil around the bottom of plug may be an issue?. Dave
Anglefire
Dave it might be. I didn’t check the rings when I put the engine in at Christmas- but seemed to have good compression (I’ve not checked it) and runs smooth enough. Its not a huge job to remove again next winter if I fancy having a look.
daverclasper
I think even with good compression, it may be an oil ring?. One of mine is slightly oily sometimes in same area and if you shine a torch into plug hole the corresponding piston top is oily compared to the others
Anglefire
I don’t see any blue smoke when driving - so I don’t think it’s particularly bad. Since sorting the manifold leak the exhaust colour is lightening up though is still a bit black. Tbf I drive a diesel as my daily so black is normal ? Pete Lewis
Rich mixtures can effectively wash the bores so oil is disolved from anywhere and burnt in the mixture rather than being in there when it goes bang, quick way of wearing bores and rings Pete
rogerguzzi
Hello Mark Try an Italian Tune up (a good thrashing in lower gears)may help with glazed bores! Roger
Anglefire
Ha That old trick - often recommended on the Disco forums for many an issue! I'm getting a drill sorted to see if I can clean up the PRV seat (hopefully will fix my low oil pressure) - before I try that one - but I will give it ago! Hope you are enjoying the trip down to Spain
