GT6 MkII Resto (1st One)

well the mind or experiences playing havoc , just looked at the parts list and '

23 all the same part number    Grrrrr

but if remember some sumps have thicker reinforced flange plate ,and longer bolt required or the longer come from the timing plate and cover ( being a good mixture)

time for  strong cuppa..    lost the plot !!!!

but you do have longer and shorter so the clues do exist ....saved

the important is they dont bottom out in the bridge

As I said in a parallel thread the front alloy bridge at least has open ended sump holes so there is a bit of spare room and maybe the longer bolts go in there. Certainly seems strange you have 4 longer ones and 4 holes into the alloy bridges plus with aluminium you do want to use as much of the thread as possible.....

So after running out of gasket sealant it was back to the gearbox rebuild, after taking off the bell housing 2 needles fell out. The gearbox at some point had had a massive oil leak not sure if that could have caused damage to the gasket?

Those needles are probably from the laygear and could have fallen out during the last gearbox rebuild. If they look in good condition thats almost certainly whats happened and its easily done when putting the assembly back into place.....

I tried but the gearbox rebuild has taken longer then anticipated hopefully tomorrow is the day!

So far it’s had a full strip down and major clean.

New needles, I think it’s had a rebuild fairly recent so kept the old bearings and had no signs of wear on the bars(can’t remeber what there called)

Reasembled

New seals & respray

New gaskets
