rogerguzzi Posted February 13, 2019 Report Posted February 13, 2019 Hello All I have just bought a reconditioned differential and it is drilled for 6 studs Is it worth drilling my top plate and fitting all six or just put 2 grub screws Loctited into the differential it is on a Spitfire 1500 Roger
johny Posted February 13, 2019 Report Posted February 13, 2019 I would have thought that your Spitfire 1500 has the 'swing spring' back axle set up in which case you can only use 4 studs to fix the spring to the differential casing. Anyway 4 studs is enough to keep everything in place and as you say the other holes should be sealed up....
rogerguzzi Posted February 13, 2019 Author Report Posted February 13, 2019 Hello Johny Now I think about it you are right it is a swing axle Roger
Nick Jones Posted February 13, 2019 Report Posted February 13, 2019 You'll only get 4 in there with a swing spring Roger. Just plug the extra holes ☺️
