Original Slatted Luggage Rack

Hi there guys, 

As said I’m looking for a original slatted boot rack for my Spitfire 1500 as I’m planning on a blat too France and want to carry some extra fuel and luggage. I’ve searched high and low and haven’t been able to find one, I know they exist but not sure if they were intended for the American market hence my struggle. 

Any leads would be appreciated.

Sam,

That's on the wrong way round! The lip is not there to prevent the luggage falling off the back, but to prevent your luggage taking your head off in a collision.

I'm not sure a boot rack was ever an official accessory, just a popular addition back in the day and something all the major parts suppliers certainly used to sell (e.g. https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID009527).

Only thing I would say with the removable, sucker types is make sure the boot (and suckers) are perfectly clean before fitting and take it off whenever you aren't actually using it.  Don't do this and you always seem to end up with scratches and/or water marks that won't come off.

Yes, unfortunately the car came with one of the sucker type, and unfortunately it’s caused 4 unsightly faded spots. I subsequently chucked it as I feel it looks silly as it doesn’t sit too flush with the boot lid. However the one in the picture I’ve seen a few times and looks abit more the part and much more low profile. That’s the specific type I’m after. Pulling my hair out trying to find one 🤔

Moss seem to be the most prominent suppliers; Revington TR have one but it's for the TR6 and may be too big for Spitfires.
