KevinB
Hi, I have a 1966 Mk2 Spitfire which is nearing the final stage of its complete restoration, I was just wondering if anyone had any info on the exact correct positioning of the various "badges" on the car? for example the "Triumph" lettering on the bonnet and boot, the "Spitfire4" badge on the boot and any others? Any advice / help would be gratefully received. Many thanks, Cheers, Kevin
NonMember
I have the same issue with my Mk3, at least for the (new) boot lid. Luckily the fixing holes for the bonnet letters are still just about discernible in the paint. Somebody sent me a "template" for the boot ones (a strip of wrapping paper that he'd marked up with a rubbing pencil) but it seems to have gone missing along with the set of letters and badges I was going to fit. I think the correct letter spacing is the same front and rear and probably the same as a Herald or Vitesse, so my plan is to measure up the letters on Tessa's boot and work from that. I've seen roundtail Spitfires with markedly different spacings, though.
DanMi
For some unknown reason the H on the bootlid was a little bit higher than the other letters on factory lids
