mpbarrett
if the clutch is not releasing you could try pumping the pedal it as this sometimes helps to get a bit more movement in the hydraulics and disengage the plate, and then try changing gear. If that helps it points to a clutch hydraulic problem. mike

Pete Lewis
marcus.....we have a mutual hate of single rail boxes a hotch poch of spools springs pins and levers should be left to Marina's you need to ask why triumph reverted to the 3 rail for most dolly 's and toledo's Pete
NonMember
36 minutes ago, Pete Lewis said: you need to ask why triumph reverted to the 3 rail for most dolly 's and toledo's They didn't. The Toledo had a 3-rail while the Mk4 Spitfire was in production, with the same 3-rail. The Dolomite also had 3-rail at that time. From about the start of 1500 Spitfire production on, all Toledos and Dolomites (except the Sprint) got single-rail gearboxes, too.
dave.vitesse
The change over (Standard 8 based gearbox) with small Triumphs to single rail was around 1974/5. The (not counting the FWD models) Toledo was introduced in 1970, the Dolomite 1850 in 1972 and the 1500TC RWD in 1973. The 1300 and 1500 Dolomite were introduced in 1976, the Toledo and 1500TC RWD were dropped at that stage. The UK Mk4 Spit in 1970-1974 and the UK 1500 Spit in 1975. (The US 1500 Spit Nov 1974) The early TR7 was also fitted with the single rail gearbox, Dolomite 1850, as there were insufficient five speed gearboxes available. Basically anything made after Oct 1974 should have been fitted with the single rail gearbox. Anything before that date the three rail gearbox. The Sprint was introduced in 1973 but used the Big Saloon/TR gearbox (Vanguard based gearbox). Dave
