Alex73
I've just taken the leap and bought myself a 1970 vitesse convertible. I'm after a little advice, what is the best workshop manual to buy, by best I mean best diagrams/photos/description for a amateur maintenance from home. Haynes, or something else on eBay or amazon etc thanks in advance
JohnD
Without a doubt, the original factory manual. Reproductions are available, although in a slightly smaller format and with illustrations that are copies and so less defined. Haynes are good, and with the advantage of the Haynes Method, of being based on the actual stripdown and reassembly of a real car. John

Colin Lindsay
http://vitessesteve.co.uk A lot of good helpful manuals available here for free, so have a browse - it can save you a lot of money instead of buying books you only use rarely. RogerH
Hi Folks, if you do use the Vitessesteve site do consider a small donation as requested. It will keep available when needed most. Roger
dougbgt6
I have a Haynes, an Intereurope and a workshop manual. Mostly I use the Haynes and the Inter. The WM covers EVERYTHING but it's not user friendly at all. Also it may shortly become illegal to own an Intereurope! Doug
Pete Lewis
If you want a factory manual dont forget they are sold in your club shop Pete
Dick Twitchen
A Parts Catalogue, also available through the Club shop, can prove particularly useful. This is not only when it comes to reassembling something but also if a previous owner has done something slightly amiss, or you need to order parts. But if you're a Tight Wad go to Canley Classics where there are all sorts of useful and free diagrams. Doug
JohnD
I was given, and followed, the parts catalogue advice when I first started, but I've never found it useful in respect of reassembly. But then I'm a bit obsessive about taking notes, and drawing little, crude sketches of the parts, especially when there are many in one assembly, like a carburettor. The drawing helps fix the way it goes together, or comes apart, in your mind, better than just seeing it in a diagram. IMHO, of course! Alex73
Thanks everyone for the advice. loving the ownership journey so far.. kids forcing me to leave the modem Germany metal at home and use the vitesse all the time! slight issue getting temperature gauge to work, not sure if it wired up right, but will start a new thread if I don’t win.
Colin Lindsay
An original manual has just come up for sale on Gumtree in Northern Ireland, don't know if he'd post or not but it might be worth a query. https://www.gumtree.com/p/car-replacement-parts/triumph-herald-vitesse-workshop-manual/1339114503
Guest
Colin, This chap has a Mk2 Vitesse - the WSM you have flagged is not suitable for his needs. The following WSM is correct and at a decent price + the inscription !! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triumph-GT6-and-Vitesse-2-Litre-Workshop-Manual/123790984259?epid=1448680554&hash=item1cd2848443:g:gC0AAOSwEVZc0Aov Regards.
