Hello All

Well here we go again off on another Adventure to Spain & Portugal (what could possibly go wrong?)

Here is a map of the general route we be taking its about 1500 miles over there plus 320 miles in UK so about 1800miles in all

We set out tomorrow morning early(4am!!!!) to catch the 8.45 ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao.

We are loosely calling it Castles and Walled towns(we hope?)

We will send report of the journey and photos to encourage others to do the same?

Hello All

No wify last night so a few photos from yesterday and today

We left Medina De Compo and called at Cuidad Rodrigo and fininshed at Almeida (Star fort)

Today we travelled to Galisteo via Penamacor.

We have done about 700 miles from home(must check oil tomorrow)was on a big slope today!

We followed the service road for an aqueduct for about 5 miles which was a first!(you can see a sluice gate on 1 photo)

A quick check and Spitty seems to be averaging 40+ mpg

Roger & Memsahib

ps a green Snake crossed the service road about 1m long(we did not stop to check!)

Hello All

We booked this B&B and had the dinner option for £56 a night(for both of us?)

I said to Margaret I bet we do not get a glass of wine!

Well we did not we got a jug full!

So I ordered the melon and Marg the Gazpacho soup!

Then Pork for me and Calamari and fish!

This what we got!

Do you think we have been robbed?

Plus Spitty shelter for the night

Roger: This thread should have been banned!

I spoke to Mrs Me telling her of your trip.

We now leave home on the 21st driving down over 3 days and then a week in Paradoes in the Basque area before another 3 days to get home.

YOUR fault!

We won't be in the Triumph though 😪

Living in Normandie all we need to do is throw the suitcase in the car and go, no ferry no foreign currency . . .

Hello All

We have left our room with views to die for!

We drove across to Leiria via Tomar  via the green roads

We have covered 950 miles from home now and Spitty is averaging 42mpg!

Oil usage is small about 1/3 down the dip stick

Hello All

We are at Leiria and it was a bank holiday yesterday so we found a place with live music a boogied the night away(it cost 3 euro each to get in but for that you had 3 drinks! beer,

cider or water EACH!!!)

We had some nice Tapas as well

The down side today is we find the Castle is shut for the next 2 years?

We found this aircraft (what is it?) 9 cylinder radial engines.

Off to Coimbra tomorrow via Pombal and Soure (castles)

Roger

ps checked oil and needed about 350cc to top up after 950 miles(so I am not going to worry about it now)

It's a Beech Expeditor C45 H, which is a variant of the Beechcraft 18 family.

Good call! The first thing I thought of was the final scene in Casablanca, but that was a Lockheed.

Cheers, Richard

Hello All

We had been on our usual walk about(pub crawl)last night

We had had some nice rose wine and tapas but the icing on the cake was passing the volunteer fire station(seen earlier)

Then being cheeky and saying can I take photos of the old fire engine!

Well it just got better they were all over us like a rash and the next thing we knew they had got the 1921 Packard fire engine running all be it a bit rough

We did not push our luck and ask for a drive! but we did ring the bell!

Its been a non driving day today(off to Guimaraes tomorrow)

Roger & Memsahib

ps can you see the silly grins? I blame the Vino plus me seeing if we can get onto the river side!
