WE gearbox

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have recently changed the engine in my gt6 from a 2.5 ME engine back to a standard KE engine. When giving the gearbox/od a clean, I noticed that it has a WE number. I'm assuming its from the same 2.5 car. Physically it fits into the car ok, but is it suitable for my KE engine?

Thanks Clive

But isn't that a D type OD? The dolomite box had the J type.

So it is probably a recon box built into a dolomite case. Happened a lot when the cars were less old and the recon business was doing a roaring trade...

I stand corrected you are right. Thanks Clive.

Arr - The memory is going!

Although with that strange serial number who knows what Triumph were producing in the D to J overdrive change over....
