PeterH
I'm sure I've seen somewhere that it is OK to use GL5 oil for the front trunnions. I think it was something to do with them not getting hot like a gear box or diff. Can anyone confirm this? I've a can of EP90 GL5 on the shelf and being somewhat a miser I'd like to use it up. KevinR
GL5 will be fine for trunions, just don't use it in the diff, or overdrive gearbox. It's only when GL5 spec oil gets very hot and put under a lot of shear forces between hyboid gears in the diff that the high sulphur components that do the damage get activated and damages yellow metals.
