Fadger
I am currently restoring a 1963 Vitesse 1600 Convertible. I have just come up against a hurdle and it's to do with the brake switch. The bracket or brake pedal doesn't have any mounting points for the switch to attach to, can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks Graham
Pete Lewis
I believe early herald and vitesse had a hydraulic pressure switch fitted in the brake line So no mechanical switch bracket was ever fitted My 64 Vit6 had the pedal bracket Pete
Fadger
Hi Pete, Many thanks for your response. Upon further investigation you are quite correct, there is a hydraulic pressure switch in the brake system. Now I can proceed with the restoration with peace of mind. Regards Fadger. Colin Lindsay
I'm keeping that hydraulic system on my early Herald - I know many owners advocate using a later pedal switch and I do have that option, but I like the original setup. The only downside is that the new loom is cut for a pedal switch so will have to be lengthened to reach the in-line switch terminals.
