HUB
Hi, '72 GT6 came with original "Bullet" door mirrors and after only a short period I have discovered they are absolutely useless, in my excitement I had already bought a pair of new ones 😞. Looking at Stainless Steel mirrors on the Bay (also in TSSC site Shop) which should give better visibility. Anybody used these? How is the fixing? (all done from outside...but have to get the old ones off from inside anyway). Do fixing holes line up with Bullet's?
Pete Lewis
most aftermarkets door mirrors are a tap screw through a mount into the door skin this is common its likely to have vibration as th door skin will allow movement some have a poor plastic mount the mirror hooks ans screws onto . metal munts are far better on mine (2000) i used rivenuts and threaded screws , take a long time making sure you put them to get the vision you want, or you end up with a door full of holes pete
dougbgt6
I have my bullets on the wings, very pretty, but not very effective until I fitted convex mirrors, a great improvement. On the doors would be better but then I’d have holes in the wings. ☹️ Doug
rlubikey
HUB, do your existing bullets have convex glass? If not then could you convert to convex? A glass cutter/polisher could cut down something for you. The Tex rectangular door mirrors common on 70's Spitfires etc, which are copies of the original (Winguard?) mirrors, have fixing holes which are (gets out ruler and measures) 1.5" apart (38mm) Although I see the Tex web site says the holes are 36mm apart, so my figure must be of an original Winguard part in my box of spares. If you specify convex glass that helps the field of view over and above the wider glass of a rectangular mirror. Hope this is of some help. Cheers, Richard
dougbgt6
Richard, I just said that, convex! 😆 I got mine off Fleabay, just make sure you get the right diameter to fit the bullets. Doug

Convex glass is an improvement on the driver's side, but it's still not very good and the pax side is useless. They also interfere with the quarter glass on the GT6. I'm considering putting ital style ones on the wings and filling the holes in the door.
Pete Lewis
thats why i say take a long time to get the position or you foul the NDV or the NDV gets in your restricted view takes two people , one to hold one to view as if driving trouble with most bullets is the lack of articulation on the pass side they just dont swivel enough pete

dougbgt6
Come on Pete! You’re not trying! 😆 Bugger! I can’t figure out how to cut and paste on this phone! Type “round convex mirror glass” in EBay search and you get a selection of different diameters. Doug
