johny
ok then the cover will need the bolts doing up to pull it flat to the flywheel. Its always like that and has to be because otherwise there would be no clamping force on the friction plate. If your old cover isnt like that then theres something wrong with it (which may also explain the strange contact marks of the spring fingers) and Im surprised it wasnt slipping in use.... Pete Lewis
if you bolt the cover down its highly unlikey to allow the dowels as they are toleranced the bolt holes are open tolerance the chance of nipping it up and then being able to fit dowels will be good luck with that , its wrong way round , the dowel locate for a reason the bolts just hold it on pete
PeaTear
So I tried fitting the clutch cover again to get a pic of the slight misalignment of the holes. As I was finger tightening the bolts the dowels lined up and went into place 🤯 Lesson learnt. Dont be such a girl about it

johny
yeh its a difficult one, you can have years of experience and think you know it all and then break something! On the other hand after a while, hopefully, it happens less often😁
Pete Lewis
my old tutor at tech always said lad you will find many levels of experience out in the world some have 1 years experience 40 times and some have 40 years experience once we all fit somewhere within that pete
