dave_webb
Can anyone recommend a car transportation company please, prefer covered trailer but looking at options, south coast UK. Rather than drive home a possible purchase, I'd like to look at options from a company who specialises in classics to collect and deliver the car. Clive Jones
Hi Dave, I used Rapido Transport to collect my Spitfire from Kent and deliver it Cheltenham (about £150) and, whilst they don't have covered transport, they were very efficient, prompt and communicative. They have good customer ratings and know Triumphs. I also used them a second time to get the car up to Jigsaw who, they say, they do a lot of work for. Hope this helps. dave_webb
Thanks Clive, That's exactly the sort of useful recommendation I was after. Will ask for a quote at the appropriate time. Cheers dave.
RAW1969
Hi Dave On recommendation from the vendor of my car - I tried a website called Shiply.com. You input your requirements and transport companies bid down the price of the job. After a couple of days bidding the prices become very competitive..... you can pick from the offers on the table. Was very straightforward & worked a treat for me. Richard
dave_webb
An interesting option, kind of eBay in reverse, thanks Richard. Just wish companies quotes were competitive to start, might save everyone time and effort in the long run. A colleague at work today said "why not drive the car home....?", hmmm, an interesting idea, if it breaks down, most of the classic insurance companies include pretty good comprehensive breakdown cover I'm told so maybe that's worth thinking about too and will definitely be a cheaper option! Thanks for the ideas guys, appreciated. Kind regards, dave
