Chris Bracey
Hi. I used to use waxoyl for sills etc but is this still the best thing to use or is there something that allows welding without catching fire? Any suggestions ? Thanks Chris
poppyman
Hi Chris, i'm afraid anything thats any good will catch fire, unless cleaned off before hand. One the best products is Dynax s-50 by Bilt Hamber.... Waxoyl when it was made by Finnigans was good stuff, but alas is now just a brand name and not good. Others will be along soon with their favourites. Tony.

RogerH
Hi Chris, if you have a MIG welder, preferably with CO2, then have it handy when welding the sills. A quick blast of gas will stop the blaze. Dynax and any of the Dinitrol range are very good. Roger
Pete Lewis
we only had waxoyl and on rebuilding the Vit doors noticed a small crack where they all get one at the end of the glass aperture , so with little thought a quick stitch of mig and you can get 8ft flames out of the door ...wonderful then clean up the extiguisher mess afterwards it didnt damage the paint or wax but stained the underpants pete
