Please note that CoM ( Council of Management) has today taken the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 AGM at HQ because of the CoronaVirus. We feel that the safety of the members must be paramount, The AGM will take place later in the year. CoM also feel that any area meetings still to take place in March and April should now be cancelled. Please share this information with everyone you can.

Thank you for your attention.

Nice to see the TSSC taking such a responsible cautious position. BRAVO!

I think it will be months before any sense of normality returns.

Youngest daughter getting married in early August, that may well be scaled right back with a proper celebration next year. A shame, but reality is that with no vaccine for a year, CV will keep spreading and I can't see the whole world staying isolated until a vaccine is available.

Yeh I know, Mickey Hazell, the organiser, emailed me, I posted it on the forum and then Martin posted it also.😆

Nobody takes any notice of me! ☹️

Hello Doug, welcome to the forum I'm sure you'll get the hang of how it works once you have posted a few times. 🤣

So today saw the cancellation of Wellesbourne Wings and Wheels, where Herts & Beds were headed in June. July's Royal International Air Tattoo is also off. 2020 really is becoming unsociable!

I do like the FBHVC's call for us all to make the most of Drive It Day by taking our cars out, but not socially interacting! The 'pay at pump' garage forecourts are becoming more attractive too!

I don't expect to go to any car meetings this year. I expect Le Mans Classic to be heavily postponed or cancelled, especially after todays revelations that 12 months of social control is likely. So glad I got an autosolo in last weekend.

On the other hand, I have spoken (at length, I like unlimited phone plans!) to several Triumph chaps today. We will try to organise a few drives, probably to somewhere we can have a socially-distanced picnic lunch and crack open our thermoses. We all have good hearing and voices, so communication will be fine, and my hob-nobs will be safe too. Assuming I can buy some.

The toll on people will be huge if all social contact is lost. Some of my friends live alone, and are supposed to stay away from everybody for 12 weeks (or is it 14?) which is a terrible thing. Hopefully some socialising will be ok and long as we follow guidelines.

Meanwhile, I am seriously thinking of digging my bike out of the shed. I have a feeling I will have time to do some cycling with the lady wife once we are allowed out.

Not too sure on the safety of your Hob-Nobs, Clive, but Vitesse on stand-by for some Sussex runs !!

Regards.

Richard.

Nipped into Banbridge this morning to get some grey primer - newly sandblasted bits just don't understand that they shouldn't start to rust for a time until things return to normal - and the roads were full of cyclists, presumably cycle clubs, plus one motorbike club, obviously making the most of the fact that the roads are quieter now!

I thought Boris had requested that you all stayed at home unless it was vital to go out? In your case a justified reason, but cyclists? No doubt they weren't even respecting a safe distance between them to reduce the risk of contamination.

Requested, yes, but not directed. Besides, does anybody believe we can all stay that isolated for the next 10-12months?  Humans need interaction (well, most of us do) so a cycle ride, walk with friends etc is a brilliant way of doing just that and improving our chances of keeping  sane. And a bit healthy.

The reality is we NEED the virus to spread at a steady rate, faster the better UP TO the threshold that the NHS can cope. If we suddenly drop to zero new cases (like china is claiming) then there will be an immediate second wave when people start to mix again. Boris's models for the spread rely on varying levels of interaction

So yes, we need the young and healthy to spread it amongst themselves, but keep away from the vulnerable. The sooner large numbers of people have had the virus and recovered, the sooner the world will start to return to normality and the shorter the time for the world economy to recover, which is in all our interests.

Good points, Clive.

Although I've been told the Singapore government aren't happy with us. They had managed to control it and got zero new cases. Then we closed all our Universities and sent all our students home. Of the ones who went home to Singapore, 75% tested positive on arrival.
