UKC8523 Fuel Pump Spacer - Later 1500

Well, a minor disaster in the garage this afternoon. I took the spacer off to clean it up and put new gaskets on (slight oil leak...) and it turns out the previous owner fitted 2 lumps of 6mm MDF, not a spacer. Which is a shame because I broke them trying to scrape the gasket off.

Anyone got a spacer they are willing to sell? Most of the usual suspects are out of stock in the UK.

Cheers, Sam

spacers are hard to find the usual answer is to fit the short arm pump short studs and no spacer

Im sure Colin has a box of them ????

Thanks Pete, at the moment it's looking like a new pump is going to be cheaper than a spacer!?

Don't think I've any spacers but will check later, although it's doubtful.

New pumps are quite cheap, I renovated one recently and the repair kit was £28, I could have bought one for around £20.

Thanks Colin, I appreciate you having a check. It's annoying, I'd rather stick with the later type if I can as my (known working) current pump AND my spare are both the later type needing the spacer.

I can actually buy (delivered) a lump of aluminium alloy plate the right thickness and size to make one for about 1/3rd the cost of a new spacer from certain "Classic Car Specialists"

I'm not sure aluminium is the best material. The idea of that spacer is to isolate the pump from some of the engine heat, so you probably want something that doesn't conduct heat. MDF would work.

There's quite a price difference between the Mini one and the Midget one. I'm pretty sure they're the same part, despite the different numbers. And the time it would take me to cut the necessary holes in the MDF is probably worth more than the MiniSpares price.

Nothing has turned up in my spares piles, and I've used the opportunity to shuffle things about and repack an overcrowded room which was long overdue so it's been a bonus for me at least. I didn't think I'd have one as I've only ever dismantled a 1300 Mkiv, both of the other Spits went back on the road. However I did find this one on eBay - looks like it might fit?

Thanks Colin, I appreciate you going to the effort of looking. I had a bit of a shufty round the inter-web thing and I think RobSport might have a second hand one in stock, I'll give them a try and if not I'll give the eBay Ford jobby you found a go.

By a bizarre coincidence I found a Ford Escort QH fuel pump (new in bag+box) in the garage last night when I was searching for something else. I've never bought one, so I wonder where it came from?!
