How to understand when you cannot see

Recommended Posts

What I mean is if I connect slave cylinder to gearbox with a new master cylinder how do know if the cylinder is working??

Pressure of the clutch pedal??

The piston is at the back of the cylinder when taking off the car. Had new master cylinder put on due to solid internal workings.

Any ideas or tips how I can do this without damage.

Your ears will be your best guide; listen at the bell housing while someone gently depresses and releases the brake pedal. You should hear sufficient creaking noises as the release lever moves and the clutch depresses to let you know that it’s moving. Try a long-handled screwdriver with the handle against your ear as a stethoscope.

You could operate the system before you install the slave.  See the slave working.

And with it in place, and in gear but no engine running, try pushing the car with the clutch pedal up and down.

If the clutch is released, then it will be a lot easier to push!
