Out of curiosity, When did washers become part of the MOT regiem?. Any one know?. I guess I could re-cycle the Tank/pump from the one I removed from a scrapped MK1 Escourt many years ago?. I saw it recently when searching for something else.

You've obviously got good eyesight 😁. My level is with them covered by about a couple of centimetres

I ain't got a couple of centimetres, maybe one at most when the level has settled after a drive, and the expansion has pushed the excess out. When it looks like this it's due a topup... (that one's due a rebuild but you know what I mean)

Point about the Vitesse (and GT6) is that the extra length of the engine makes things a bit tight up front making radiator height and volume a bit marginal. Hence the use of the “header tank extension”. Herald and Spitfire have more room meaning the rad can have a decent sized header tank to begin with, so don’t need the extension.
