david lewis Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 a friend has offered me a set original of wolf race alloy slot wheels which he had fitted to his TR7. my question is would i need different studs/wheelnuts etc to fit them to my herald as the extra cost would not make it a cheap buy. cheers
Clive Posted June 17, 2015 Report Posted June 17, 2015 You would need the correct nuts for the wheels. Possibly 60 degree taper nuts, about £20 a set. And you will need bulge nuts at least (please do NOT use the std herald wheelnuts, they are not suitable, and potentially you could lose a wheel or 2) Or swap your studs to match the TR7 nuts (assuming they come with the wheels) but that is more hassle.
Clive Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Just a thought, you do realise the TR7 uses larger studs than heralds (12mm I think, heralds puny 3/8unf) which is why TR7 nuts are of no use to you.
Steve C Posted June 18, 2015 Report Posted June 18, 2015 Is not the TR7 also a wheel design that relies on a tight fit of the centre hole in the wheel over a tapered hub casting? The studs really clamp it in place more than drive it? Just something in the distant recesses of my memory - perhaps a TR7/8 owner can confirm. Steve C
