DVLA and Taxing a vehicle

I recently had the letter from DVLA to tax my Spitfire MKIV, it is registered as an historic vehicle on the V5.

The letter quotes the V5C reference number I should use whilst taxing the vehicle which is an 11 digit number.

The DVLA taxing website will only accept 16 Digit V5 numbers

So I can't carry out the request to tax the vehicle, I wrote to the DVLA 2.5 months ago about the anomaly, to date no response

This must be happening to others, any advice?

Many Thanks

so you do have a current V5 showing historic ???   that shpuld get it taxed at a Post office

you could go to a post office that does tax  and they  can ring their hot line and maybe get some clues for you how to use the  V5C

thats a bit odd , have you tried phoning dvla for their take on the missing 5 digits ??

Pete
