AndyCrews
Could anyone tell me if its safe to power a small compresser from this socket. It would only be used for inflating tyres, so no prolonged use. I don't want to risk it if the wiring isn't up to the job. TIA Andy
rlubikey
Andy, look at the thickness of the wire for the compressor and compare with the wire to the back of the cigar lighter. If the compressor's cable is thinner, it's OK. The same ... well, OK for short periods - just a few minutes. Thicker - no, unless you look at the current rating of the compressor and compare with the rating of the *old* cable in your Spit. Hope this helps, Richard
AidanT
Hi. I'd buy a couple of crocodile clips and connect to the battery. Why risk the possibility of damaging the car wiring?
mishmosh
Always best clipped to the battery. Our c4 comes with a little compressor. First use blew the supply fuse ......
AndyCrews
Many thanks for the replies. I'll stick to using the old footpump! Andy
