I do not have a bracket on the Tunnel only 2 x Holes as per the Owners Handbook (Fig8 F674) (Blanking screws fitted to the tunnel anchorage point). On your photo you have 1 single hole in the floor each side under the B post, what are these for? because I have the same(no1 on my photo) and what I can see from your photo is that by the rear of the runners you have 1 x hole and I have x2(no3 on my photo) Do you know what these are for? Colin Lindsay Posted September 20, 2020 Report Share Posted September 20, 2020 B-post mounting goes like this: You'll see the two larger holes around the frame; there are lots of smaller ones but they're for the trim clips. Bottom of the b-post, you can fit reinforcing plates and screw an eye through the bodywork: I bought these from Chic Doig many moons ago but will use them on my own Herald when it gets that far. My own Herald had the floor loops but for some reason across the floor, as opposed to along it in the photo of the green tub above. I binned that tub due to corrosion, but the two black rubber grommets in the photo are a mystery; I've seen so many tubs with them and no-one seems to know what they're for, and they're too far along the floor pan to be a seatbelt mounting point. I have the plate x 4 purchased them from Bad Boy Classics - £6.95! Where you have 2 x holes near the base of the B Post I only have one each side but I did have plates welded in so possability they did not replace the other. On fitting the rear Seat Belts, I am looking to place the reinforcing plate upside down underneath the floor, weld into place and then fit a very large washer and, screw the bolt and seatbelt plate down through the floor into the plate! This helps the underside of the seat as the nut on top of the plate would make the seat uneven.? or I can leave the seatbelts out of the back and just fit front 3 point statics? What do you think?? I don't want to go drilling everywhere and if I pit the short belts in the centre its awkward to get at, because of the axle/drive shaft tunnel? I've just been on the phone to Graham at Quickfit, they're had both phone and web problems and the e-mail I sent via the online form bounced straight back to me. I got him at sales@quickfitsbs.com; I've ordered Herald 1200 belts and confirmed the spec I need, by sending him a selection of photos by e-mail. Mine are centre tunnel y-piece via b-post brackets to loops in the floor and they're replicating them in silver-grey. Don't know about the fixings though! And thats all I have? QuickSB came back to me and asked if I wanted the Classic Buckle type £65 + Vat for the front. Again shows 2 Holes each side of the Tunnel (ignore 3rd on Tunnels pic no good)) 3. 2 x Holes on Top of Tunnel Early set up is two holes in top of tunnel near the rear, close to the rear seat, that bolt through into a reinforcing plate underneath - as in your bottom photo: Late setup is two holes, one on each side of the gearbox tunnel but about half way down; these are large, maybe an inch in diameter, and the seatbelt eyes bolt through to brackets on the chassis underneath, with a hole for the b-post mounting on the sill below the rear of the door: The b-post base uses a large metal eye which screws into a reinforcing plate. The other holes in your photos with the rubber grommets are just drain holes. You can mix and match if you get the b-post brackets on the belts correctly made for the corresponding type of bracket, so that your belts are attached to the top of the tunnel with the Y-piece, but at the other end, down by the floor, you use eyes with reinforcing plates, rather than the metal loop through the floor into a plate underneath. On this pic you showed the lower B Post hole which is in the Inner Sill (which I do not have ) It might be better for me to drill a hole in the floor at the bottom of the B Post and re-enforce it? and on the Tunnel, am I able to still able to purchase a Y Bracket which would bolt onto the two holes that I have or would the ordinary plates on the end of the seat belts just screw in? Colin Lindsay Posted September 24, 2020 Report Share Posted September 24, 2020 You should have the inner sill / edge of floorpan.... otherwise there'll be nothing holding the car together... Don't forget there are three mounting points, the two I showed are an early convertible as the saloons are further along the top rail below the rear side window. Convertibles are top of b-post, bottom of b-post, centre tunnel; but it's the small variations from early to late that are important - early cars are through the floor, later are through the sides of the sills, early are top of centre tunnel and later are sides of centre tunnel and so through to the chassis. The top b-post mounting stayed the same at least for the earlier 1961 - 1966 cars approximately. Quickfit have all of the period brackets in chrome, stainless and brushed stainless. I've ordered the two lower brackets in the picture below - y-piece (you need two, one for each belt) and to the right of that one, top of b-post - plus the spring-catch version centre right for the floor attachment at the b-post. I have a hole on the bottom of the B post in the floor each side! and 2 on top of the Tunnel(All Early Model). As for the top B Post Holes I will check? I will need 2 x Bottom Right, (I dont have the Y Bracket? What do I need for the Top of the Tunnel?) 2 x Top Right for connecting! and 2 x top left? Two Y-pieces for the centre (they sit one on top of the other), and two belts for the other two points with the attachments that I've shown.
