Daily Spit 1500 body repairs & more..

Recommended Posts

Some more stuff done sunday.

(Saturday builded up the front end of a 1968 Porsche 911 ! )

Next will be the windscreen.. a job i'm scared off 😅

Or the door..

Next weekend is a 4 day one.. so could do some work, if the weather is good...

The mesh of the heater box had a few layers of primer & paint in the mesh... a nightmare to clean up the little holes.

Love the way its coming together . Just shows you can restore and keep on the road. Interesting the engine bay photo where the three paint shades come together. Nice masking to avoid overspray. Look forward to the next stage.

Really wanted to strip it until near the windscreen seal.

But bad weather was coming and didnt want to get the wiper arms off, wheelbox bezels etc..

Sadly in the late afternoon it was amazing weather.. but I was to fed up :D

It's as if my brain works on it while I'm asleep.

It does. Seriously. You actually "learn" while sleeping specifically your brain commits things to memory for reproduction.

When I was a teacher a student I caught sleeping in class used that as his excuse... cheeky bugger...

Brilliant. Now all I need to do.....is sleep more. Suits me, but Lady BW just might have something to say about it.

But seriously, I did read some years ago, that while you sleep the brain sort of files all the stuff from the days short term memory. That's why dreams are so jumbled. Probably also due to my random filing systems when I'm awake. Heaven knows what my brain is 'finding' in some of its 'filing drawers'. Answers a lot of strange things...loose look, more thread drift. Maybe Kevin should set up a 'thread drift' heading and move all the drifts into it.....it would end up, well like my dreams!!!

On the basis that all threads on here manage to drift, that would put all threads in one heading, and that would then make it no different to Facebook !

Brilliant work, those upper door seal clips are rather fun, are they not ?  The pin that holds the winder handle is also a real laugh to put back in.  Notice you have a central locking system

The seals and pin i've done so many times that I have a few ways to do them and doesnt take long.

Strangly on my left door the outer seal is a pain to fit..

Yes got central locking since 2013.

Its now on its 2nd chineese kit.

Need to uograde the wiring to more copper wires..

China wiring is plastic with 3 or 4 little copper wires, in the winter when cold the wires/plastic could break off...

And had the motors filled with water..

But thats now been taken care off :D

Last 1,5 week im home because of my back and right leg hurting badly.

Yesterday needed to get an MRI scan to 🙄.

Will see now what the docter says, probably a blocked nerve.

Now my back is better, still hurts and need to stop ever hour or 2..

But wanted to do some jobs on Fox.

Did it while sitting on a chair ... I must be getting old (31 !) 😁.

Block sanding, sanding guide etc

Needa a bit more primer in spots.

Left bonnet panel..

I better replaced this to .. but will try and get it right.

It had a massive dent above the catch, when closing the catch.. it got bigger.

Got the dent mostly out by shrinking the metal.

Hot air gun, hammer and cold water did the trick.

But its still not 100 %.

Also found out why closing the bonnet it pulled a dent in..

There was a dent in the bulkhead/side panel, just where the guide wheel of the catch is.

When you close the catch it pushed the wheel against the bulkhead.

With the dent it pushed in to far !

Knocked it back and no more bonnet dent !

Pics of both sides..

Another blow over with primer this morning !

Sadly it was 30 degrees outside today and needed to work in the sun.. to hot !

Otherwise I had fixed the dents in the bonnet and given the top panel some primer to.

Rest of the week its going to be rainy, that stops play.

Slowly getting there !

Another step forward. Should be done soon. At least you have been able to enjoy driving while its been going on.

Still lots to do ..

Bonnet needs to be adjusted better and trying to reduce the gap at the passenger side (right side for me).

Possibly the bonnet needs to come off to get it right.

And the windscreen needs taken out etc.

Oh.. and then there is the engine 😅
