Roger K Posted October 22, 2020 Report Posted October 22, 2020 As it says really - I'm looking for a set of 5J x 13 steel wheels as fitted to Spitfire 1500. I have a set of 5.5 x 13 (Formula Ford) wheels I would happily exchange if required. Please send a pm if you can help. Thanks, Roger
Anglefire Posted October 25, 2020 Report Posted October 25, 2020 I have 4 spitfire steel wheels from my 1500 - not sure if they are 5J though. 13" though.
Roger K Posted October 25, 2020 Author Report Posted October 25, 2020 Hi Mark, pm sent. Thanks, Roger
Roger K Posted October 25, 2020 Author Report Posted October 25, 2020 Thanks Mark, but still looking, folks.... 1
Peter Truman Posted October 25, 2020 Report Posted October 25, 2020 Have you thought about mini lite replica’s tell you my story my daughters Mk2 Spit like yours had Formula Ford what we call reverse rim style wheels that were white powder coated I brought locally 6 Spit oval holed wheels 2ea 4.5, 5 & 5.5in I had them re-rolled to straighten and fix the rim lip damage, then sand blasted and powder coated silver the final cost was around the same price of 4 locally made and supplied Superlite mini lite replica’s, at wholesale costs. I assume you want originality for your car. Now around 10 years ago I fitted 2 sets of new Michelin tyres (165 75) one for each Triumph (my Vitesse) in the switch over I ended up with the Spit wheels and the Spit with my Superlites that’s the way it still is and the issue is NOT open for negotiation with my daughter, good job I like the Spit original style wheels, but hated they plastic hub cap cover, so during the current lockdown I modified them so they don’t protrude as much, and they now sport the old triumph world logo.
Roger K Posted October 25, 2020 Author Report Posted October 25, 2020 Thanks for the advice Peter - I really want to keep this GT6 looking as standard as possible, so will probably end up keeping the 4.5s. It’s not had a single mod since it was built, not even an unleaded head. I have a set of 5.5 reverse rims but they are a problem with the non-roto long drive shafts, and look a bit too much for my taste, so I need to find some 5” rims. I’m happy to pay top dollar!
Clive Posted October 25, 2020 Report Posted October 25, 2020 I may, just may, have a lead. Don't hold your breath, I am relying on somebody not having got around to getting rid of a set. We shall see!
Clive Posted October 25, 2020 Report Posted October 25, 2020 It was 3 years ago😣 ,thought it was last year. See what comes back.
Ben Caswell Posted October 25, 2020 Report Posted October 25, 2020 https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/293788900085 A bit pricy I think but here's 4
Roger K Posted October 25, 2020 Author Report Posted October 25, 2020 Thanks Ben, but those are 5.5s and it's 5s I need. I don't think the offset of the 5.5s will work with non-roto driveshafts.
Radiation Man Posted November 14, 2020 Report Posted November 14, 2020 Hi Roger I am looking for a set of 5.5 x 13 wheels for my Spit 1500, are they something you would consider selling? I appreciate you were looking for a swap potentially against some 5" wheels. Kind regards Ian
Roger K Posted November 15, 2020 Author Report Posted November 15, 2020 Hi Ian, I have three 5.5 rims I'd like to sell, but they are 5.5 x 13 x 3/8, which I don't think is what you're looking for. Roger
Radiation Man Posted November 15, 2020 Report Posted November 15, 2020 Hi Roger It sounds like the offset on yours is different to mine so wouldn’t match. Thanks for getting back to me and good luck getting the wheels you want. Kind regards Iab

Roger K Posted November 16, 2020 Author Report Posted November 16, 2020 Thanks for the thought, Clive. If your ear that's close to the ground hears of any more, please give me a shout! Roger
