MGTF seats into a Spitfire Mk3

Hi Guys,

Has anybody successfully fitted MGTF seats into a Mk3 Spit? I bought some in great condition but now find that the frames are about an inch too wide and do not fit in to the floor well. I saw the post on fitting MGF seats in to a Vitesse but there appears to be more space there.

As you have found,they are too wide. Spifires are about as narrow as it gets, so very few will fit. 

MGF stuff works well in herald/vitesse, and I have them in my Toledo. Super comfy even on a straight 48hr drive.

MX5 and that's about it

Even MX5 are not ideal, they sit you higher than the original seats. I fitted some, and removed a fair amount of foam from the very bottom of the seat base to help. Again,comfy, but despite being "correctly sized" for a spitfire at 5'8, I still found I was sitting a little high. Must be my seating position, others have less problems with it. 

Apart from that, there are aftermarket seats, and I wonder if Elise seats would fit. Not exactly common though.

I ended up with new foams and covers on original seats.  And had to fix the problem with the seats only locking on the outside corner at the back (scrutineers kept complaining about the seat feeing wobbly) 

Seats now comfy, we do annual long distance events, sometimes 600 miles in a day on them, certainly 8hrs+ driving. and no complaints from me or the lady wife (about the seats, apparently sometimes I drive "too fast" but on an autobahn it just has to be done)
