SpitfireGeorge
Hi Guys,. I have just received scroll badges for my Spitfire Mk3 boot lid, the badges in question are "Spitfire" and "Mk3" surprisingly! My boot lid is the original for the car so the holes are correctly spaced, the right hand prong on each badge is way out of line with its hole. Is this typical of the quality one can expect from modern reproductions or have I just been unlucky? I purchased them from one of the regular Triumph spares providers. Cheers, George
chrishawley
Can't comment of Spit3 badges specifically but in general this is par for the course where repro items are concerned. Be it Minis, VW transporters or Jags I've had the same experience repeatedly - repro stuff never fits from the box. C
thescrapman
You need to drill new holes for the repro badges. Notbusually a problem as they tend to be fitted during a restoration, so holes be welded up.

Or: break off the fitting lugs and glue the badges on with Tigerseal or the like. Saves drilling through paintwork and believe me they won't fall off. SpitfireGeorge
Thanks guys, thought that would be the case. Didn't know Tigerseal could be used that way. Cheers.
Clive
Tigerseal is in the same category as cable ties and gaffa tape. Wonderful stuff. (the white version is excellent bathroom sealer, doesn't go black...)
