Jeffds1360 Posted November 16, 2020 Report Posted November 16, 2020 Photo below shows the approx 3" gap in my trim. It also shows the part I bought to fill it. !!!!??? (There was no indication of length, I just assumed it would be a standard fit) So.....has PO cut off a bit?....or has it shrunk
trigolf Posted November 16, 2020 Report Posted November 16, 2020 Sometimes its supplied on a roll rather than pre-cut to correct length. Somebody's cocked up ! Gav
Pete Lewis Posted November 16, 2020 Report Posted November 16, 2020 this plastic does shrink, but not by 3" when supposedly new there is always trouble with things stored on a roll it gets stretched as its wound on , vinyl flooring does the same but the supplier should spec a length otherwise you have no idea if its sufficient i would return it as not suitable for purpose , too long is far more sensible was this a recognised seller ?????or a market place
NonMember Posted November 16, 2020 Report Posted November 16, 2020 18 minutes ago, Pete Lewis said: i would return it as not suitable for purpose I thought Jeff had only bought the 4cm cover clip, not the full trim, which is the thing that's too short. He mentioned the PO getting it wrong so I assume it was already there.
Jeffds1360 Posted November 16, 2020 Author Report Posted November 16, 2020 I admit I thought there was just a piece missing so checked the stanpart spare parts catalogue and found 611437, cover, joint finisher so ordered it from ANG £2.99. It probably is the part I ordered but not the part I need. Eeeeh well. Must try harder This lockdown is getting to me
Pete Lewis Posted November 16, 2020 Report Posted November 16, 2020 you may be right , if so he needs to buy a length of mylar and cut it to suit the gap jeff that clip only covers the abutted ends its not a gap filler just a join mask so yes the old mylar has shrunk probably best to buy a full new length , then you can use your clip and you may need the inserting tool to refit the trim strip into the rubber Pete
Jeffds1360 Posted November 16, 2020 Author Report Posted November 16, 2020 Ahhh. My bad. The trim was on when I got it and the gap existed. I thought the ' joint finisher' would fill the gap. Live and learn. Thanks guys. Anyone got 4" of "mylar" ?
Pete Lewis Posted November 16, 2020 Report Posted November 16, 2020 this might seem daft but there is more than one profile , some sit nice and flush some remain raised , you bound to be donated the wrong match i have some to fit the 2000 rear windo , you cant reach it, the rubber is well hard and old i have a new rubber but its been waiting 4 yrs to do this ,if there is any left over youre welcome but it may be a looooong waaaait Pete 1
