Iain T Posted November 17, 2020 Report Posted November 17, 2020 Just changed my less than 1000 mile old NGK's for above and what an instant difference! Seems to pull better and tickover smoother. I think someone on the forum recommended them and first impression is excellent. They are 4 prong silver tip non resistance type so suited to our cars. I bought them from Greenspark for about £24 with p&p. Iain 1
poppyman Posted November 17, 2020 Report Posted November 17, 2020 I use the NGK equivalent in my 2500s and Dolomite 1850 Iain, certainly smoother but as mine are auto's i can't say much else really. I had them in stock and have nearly run out of the standard ones so gave them a try. Mostly used in Golf GTI's. Tony.
Nigel Clark Posted November 17, 2020 Report Posted November 17, 2020 Yes, Bosch WR78 or NGK BUR6ET work very well in our cars. Nigel 1
AidanT Posted November 20, 2020 Report Posted November 20, 2020 Always had fun with finding the right plugs due to insulation contamination. Have recently purchased some OEM n9-y champions for next year I'm hoping that these will last longer than 12 months!! Aidan
Dick Twitchen Posted November 21, 2020 Report Posted November 21, 2020 Mark Fields (Jigsaw Racing) was warning years ago of fake NGK plugs; easy to sell when 'the price is right' and customers do not want to use a 'genuine' supplier. Dick

Problem is: spotting the 'genuine supplier'. Just because he has a lot of overheads, and therefore charges a whacking premium on top of his cost price, doesn't make them any better than the cheaper supplier who has a realistic markup. Similarly, sellers of fakes will often charge a higher price to make it look less suspicious. You have to be canny sometimes, and that's still no guarantee.

That's why I purchased from Greenspark Plug, they have a good reputation and the prices are not cheap but competitive. The plugs arrived in what looked like the correct packaging, I know easily faked, and the quality and finish, harder to fake, what is expected from Bosch. Magnecor KV8 lead set (pt no 6007) arrived from Aldon, I'll fit and hopefully forget! Iain 1
sulzerman Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 Hi all I have just got a set of W78 plugs, do they need to be gapped? if so is it 25 thou as standard? Many thanks
