Pete Lewis Posted December 3, 2020 Report Posted December 3, 2020 sounds easy . is it too good to be true ? this is my sort of welding but whos' the guinea pig Pete
RogerH Posted December 3, 2020 Report Posted December 3, 2020 Isn't this the same or very similar to the stuff shown at all the major car show. Alutech or springs to mind but doesn't come up on Google. And it is not cheap - £30/Mtr. Alumiweld is another one Roger
johny Posted December 3, 2020 Report Posted December 3, 2020 I can vouch for Alumiweld as I used it to successfully repair a bike radiator tube. Its not welding as theres no penetration into the parent metal so more like brazing and does need a bit of practice. For aluminium its critical that the oxide layer is removed when the metal is up to the correct temperature and then the flame removed just before applying the filler rod...
68vitesse Posted December 3, 2020 Report Posted December 3, 2020 Similar stuff been around for years, was told it is based on Zinc because its melting point is about two thirds of Aluminium. Regards Paul
