Is this worth investigating

Isn't this the same or very similar to the stuff shown at all the major car show. 

Alutech  or springs to mind but doesn't come up on Google.

And it is not cheap - £30/Mtr.

I can vouch for Alumiweld as I used it to successfully repair a bike radiator tube. Its not welding as theres no penetration into the parent metal so more like brazing and does need a bit of practice. For aluminium its critical that the oxide layer is removed when the metal is up to the correct temperature and then the flame removed just before applying the filler rod...
