BMW 5Series Windscreen Washer Reservoir Access

Hi,

Can any of you knowledgeable folk please advise me on how to best access and drain the WW reservoir on my BMW? Seems, from other forums, the problem is not uncommon. I’m after understanding just how practical, hard/easy it is to tackle without needing special tools etc. I need to remove the filter, clean and replace it.

Thank goodness Triumph didn’t decide to locate the reservoir on their cars in such inaccessible places.

Thanks in advance.

Paul

Pete,

Thanks. I had got that far, it’s more the next bit around how/what to remove to drain and flush. I’m happy to take the task on but not if it something that takes hours. Not that I’m too mean to pay someone more I don’t want to out in the cold for ages 🥶😤🤬.

Try this Paul, if not the right model, it will be on YouTube.

Tony.

I don't know about the very latest Land Rovers, but the D3 and D4 models must have had the easiest head lamp changing going. Pull up two tabs and the headlamp comes out. I reckon I could change one quicker than the Spitfire.

D1 have self removing headlights after a few years, they have plastic clips on the back with fatigue and crack.

For those who may be interested, local BMW specialist (not main dealer) will sort problem and will drain, clean filter and refill reservoir for £50 which I’m happy with as I don’t have to endure cold hands, sore knuckles, cut fingers and a search for replacements for the three little plastic pin clips that keep part of the trim on.
