Colin Lindsay Posted January 19, 2021 Report Posted January 19, 2021 I'm been sorting out my drawers (ooohhh 'err) and have found quite a few SU-carb related parts that I can't positively identify. Anyone want to give it a go? This one is quite large, and Waxstat - there is no serial number on the body, anywhere, apart from a '12' on top of the manifold flange. There is a serial number on one of the operating levers AUD 2859, and the float chamber has a tag reading AUD 480, but reads AUC 1310 on the lid and AUD 9203 on the bottom. The carb body has no serial numbers at all. These two are marked AUC 870 and AUC 871 and the float chambers are tagged AUD104L and AUD 104R so a matched pair on a manifold I suspect to be Mangoletsi - going by the colour only; no serial numbers or casting marks anywhere. The carbs are listed to fit Heralds and Spitfires, and it was bought at a Triumph Show many years ago, but it's a twin-port that fits no head I've ever tried it against. The carbs also fit Riley 1500, Mini Cooper and MG Midget but not on this manifold, which is very steeply angled which may point to a slanted engine. This last for now is an air intake elbow, but no idea of application. Serial number is 7219236 and there is also a number ADC2 beside a little Star Trek badge - any ideas of maker or what it's from?

Pete Lewis Posted January 19, 2021 Report Posted January 19, 2021 blame the pandemic at least HS4 were used on a few triumphs so it will be useful ive got 2 of the orrible things on my 2000 they must breed !!! been hunting that motif but nah !! seem to recall air cleaner adaptors like that on BMC and Vivas Pete
NonMember Posted January 19, 2021 Report Posted January 19, 2021 I understand the red jet vs black jet codes the length of the flexible hose, to be paired with upright or slanted float chambers (well, relative to the carb - the idea is to have a vertical float chamber in a semi-downdraught installation. The mystery manifold would want to be the other way up for most slanted engine installs, but the combination with angled float chambers suggests it's actually intended for a vertical head face on an engine that's set too low down to comfortably put the carbs on a level with it - an example of the above semi-downdraught.

AUD104 (pair) is Mini Copper years 64 - 69 Mini/Austin carbs are not necessarily a straightforward interchange for similar HS2/HS4s on Heralds//Spitfires due to the float chamber be angled to the main body of the carb. As for the manifold. No idea!
