Rich
Hello ive just noticed that my brake filler cap has a small hole right in the middle of it. It looks like its manufactured that way but i'd rather know before i block it off etc. The car is a triumph vitesse mk1. Thanks in adavance Rich
dougbgt6
It's supposed to be there! When you bleed the brakes you push the pedal and squeeze fluid through the system, the level of fluid in the master cylinder drops and is replaced by air. If you block the hole the air can't get in. If you have to work on the hydraulics blocking the hole or putting a piecing of plastic under the cap creates a vacuum in the master cylinder and you don't loose too much fluid.
Pete Lewis
Yes most important its kept clear to breath it alsonallows moisture with the air change and fluid absorbs water like a sponge, thats why you change it every two years The moisture gets in the calipers and it will boil , and you loose your pedal, and gain a hedge pete
